Athlete welcomed with open elevator shaft in Sochi

Making a big deal of issues in Sochi is clearly a case of privileged western bias, right? Nobody in any country should assume when they push the button for an elevator that they’re welcomed with an actual elevator, and not an open shaft.

This was sent out by Rebekah Wilson, brakewoman for the Great Britain Women’s Olympic team. It’s a good thing she has an athlete’s awareness, because many of us probably would have tumbled right down that thing.
