Indians pitcher told he made the team, mid-inning

One Cleveland Indians pitcher got the best news he could have ever imagined when his manager visited the mound.

Getting a visit from the manager on the mound normally isn't a great thing, but it turned out to be an unforgettable moment for 28-year-old Blake Wood who was informed by Terry Francona that he made the Cleveland Indians roster -- midway through the inning.

It was unclear if Wood would return to the Indians after signing a one-year deal in 2013 that saw him appear in just two games, pitching a total of 1.1 innings. A return from surgery, long fight to the bigs and now back on an opening day roster for the first time since 2011? We’d say that’s a pretty turnaround.
