Matt Williams meets Mascot Matt Williams, universe doesn’t collapse

It's weird that a team that has existed only since the late-90s has a "Legends" race, but we can forgive that for now since the Diamondbacks' limited history allowed the mascot/Legend version of Matt Williams to come face-to-face with actual person (and current Nationals' manager) Matt Williams on Monday.

Real Williams is all business and points to the finish line, which shouldn't be shocking for the dude who felt benching Bryce Harper for a lack of hustle made sense. Mascot Williams is having an existential crisis, though, as he's seeing into a future in which his head is less squishy and he's allowed to escape his Chase Field prison.
