Yangervis Solarte and Great Moments in Lollygagging, Part MCLVIII

Or, Great Moments in Hustle, Part MCLVIII

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Is this hustle or lollygagging? Here’s Daniel Murphy stealing second base while Yangervis Solarte looks for dandelions on which to make a wish:

Hustle or lollygagging? Hustle or lollygagging? Tick tock. You have to choose. 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

Time’s up. Sorry, it was a trick question. The answer is computer-generated imagery or “CGI” because Yangervis Solarte is not a real person, but rather the world’s first digitally created baseball player. Most of his at-bats actually take place in a green room, with Andy Serkis helping with the motion capture.

Also, the answer would have been lollygagging. Even if Solarte were there, Masahiro Tanaka didn’t notice until it was too late. Helluva job, effort everyone.

The Yankees won 4-0.
