Bartolo Colon doesn’t have a hit yet this year. He might never get one with the Mets. He helped a run score in Wednesday’s start, though, and did it Colon style.
Bartolo Colon, accidental run producer
His swing is ugly but it got the job done. Sort of.

Bonus: his helmet almost falls off and the bouncing wild pitch nearly beans him in the head. It’s even more beautiful up close:
We can go closer:
Both the Mets and Pirates broadcasts were showing so many replays of Colon’s swing and the run scoring that they missed all but the very end of his second swing-and-miss. Don’t worry, they got the third.
Colon would pitch 7.1 scoreless, so the runs scored on his at-bat held up for the win. He finished 0-for-3 on these two at-bats:
But more importantly he explained why he carries his bat to first-base, like so:
Bartolo said he carries his bat with him to first so the bat boy doesn't have to do any extra work. pic.twitter.com/AAk4rzM6W4
