Watch the ‘Battered Bastards of Baseball’ trailer

And cross your fingers for a feature film.

That’s the trailer for The Battered Bastards of Baseball, a documentary now on Netflix about America’s only independent baseball team in the early ‘70s. The Portland Mavericks were owned by former Bonanza actor Bing Russell, who was the uncle of future actor and Mavericks player Kurt Russell, who wants to know if you’re going to do something about this news or just stand there and read.

Even better is that there might be a feature film that comes out of this. Todd Field, last seen cheering us up with Little Children way back in 2006, grew up in Portland, and he’s reportedly interested in the story.

I would watch it. Right after I watch this documentary. Which I can literally do from my phone. Gimme a few minutes ...
