LeBron James decided to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Carmelo Anthony decided to play with the New York Knicks. Both decided they did not want to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, who are paying Old Kobe $Texas. However, Magic Johnson is upbeat about the snubbery:

It’s not clear whether Magic is throwing a massive amount of shade or is genuinely being congratulatory, but both are rather weird. The Lakers were never truly in the hunt for either player -- Carmelo gave the Lakers a thought, but was really deciding between New York and Chicago -- so it’s not like the Lakers’ failure to get another star was a horrific failure.
