These Diamondbacks announcers dressed up like Star Wars characters on air

This is scary, beautiful, wonderful and majestic.

It’s Star Wars Day for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the team’s announcers decided to dress for the occasion at the start of Sunday’s broadcast. We’ll try to set aside the gross fictional faux pas of having Chewbacca work alongside an Imperial Stormtrooper and simply enjoy this for what it is.

The real story here is that it sure feels a lot like the basic tenets of amazing minor league theme days are breaking into Major League Baseball. It’s a natural genesis that we’re huge fans of. Until we see Alfonso Ribeiro dancing “The Carlton” with the Phillie Phanatic, we’ll just enjoy this.
