Watch Sam Fuld achieve flight, throw out runner at home
He wasn’t airborne for very long, but every little bit counts.

Sam Fuld, for all his McEwing-ian underdog trappings, is an astonishingly gifted athlete. He is a little bit less astonishingly gifted than most of his MLB peers -- he is of a normal human size, for starters, which explains the McEwing-y bit -- and the game is perhaps a bit less easy for him than it is for other big leaguers. This is the fun of watching him do things like launch his body into low orbit to throw out Alex Gordon at home plate.
That is how hard baseball is for Sam Fuld, and also that is how hard baseball actually is. We should thank Sam Fuld for reminding us of this, and also for the Vine above, via Lana Berry. If and when a second Vine emerges of Fuld continuing to barrel roll from right field all the way into the dugout, we’ll add it to this post.
