South Carolina’s Space Odyssey and Sandstorm were a pretty damn fine to way to start the college football season

South Carolina played host to the first big game of the college football season, and their introduction was awesome as ever. So glad to have you back, college football.

I’ve known that college football was coming back. I’ve felt it creeping these past 100 or so days, day after day, getting closer and closer and closer to kick off. But still, I needed to know. Was it real? Was college football really coming?

Thursday night, we got the best confirmation possible: A fully packed Williams-Brice Stadium pounding to two of the best introductory hype experiences in the nation. First, the song from “2001: A Space Odyssey”

Then, "Sandstorm:"

Well done, South Carolina, and well done, SEC Network, for bringing this to us. Bless you, college football, and never ever leave.
