Hundreds of commuters team up to help rescue a man trapped by train

A typical Wednesday morning commute became a little different in the Australian city of Perth when a man’s leg became trapped between a train and the station. Soon hundreds of passers-by left their plans aside for a moment in order to lend a hand (and their body weight) to help a person in need.

The man was standing in the entryway to the car when his leg slipped at the perfect angle to become lodged, shortly before 9 a.m. His leg was stuck in an unbelievably small gap, shown by a Twitter user who posted a close-up photo of the man.

Rail workers were left with a quandary. Driving the train would cause untold damage to the man’s leg, and it was too tight to pull him up directly. Soon everyone on the station was joining in to push the car just enough that they could free him.

Thankfully the plan worked, the man sustained no serious injuries and the fellow travelers who helped a man in need were able to hop on the train and continue their journey.
