Ryan Rhody is a die-hard Vikings fan, which also makes him a stone-cold hater of the Packers. This hatred runs deep, really deep. So deep that he decided to openly mock the team’s NFC Championship loss during a Minnesota Wild game, and got plenty of notice for it.
“I hate the Packers fans more than anything. So I will do anything to chirp them in any way possible,” Rhody said. “With the amount of texts and Facebook messages I got when they were (ahead on Sunday). this was my way to laugh right back at them.”
The 31-year-old didn’t tell anyone about the sign he was bringing to the game, quietly sneaking it in and waiting to see what would happen. His gesture went viral.
“I had easily 20,000 tweets or retweets. I couldn’t even keep up with my Twitter,” he said. “My phone went from 70 percent battery down to 7 percent like nothing. I got like 200 or 300 texts. My phone died and I turned it back on. In that time I had 120 texts in 45 minutes.”
Rhody’s next stop: The Super Bowl. He wouldn’t head to Arizona if the Packers were playing, but says he has something planned if he can get tickets to the big game.
