Panthers prove that EVERY NFL highlight is better with Spanish commentary

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
The Carolina Panthers have started an amazing tradition during its 5-0 start to the season, and it’s something every NFL team should be doing. Re-watching highlights of big plays is fun, but NOTHING like re-watching them with Spanish commentary.
Greg Olsen’s game-winning touchdown is one of several videos the Panthers have put on their YouTube page with the radio call from Jaime Moreno and Luis Moreno Jr. The only question is: Why isn’t every NFL team doing this?!
These announcers just get it. Boring, pedestrian calls of amazing plays have become the norm. The Spanish announce team is ready, willing and able to turn the dial up to 11 at a moment’s notice and it really makes these highlights 100 times better as a result.
Seriously, just listen to how they called Cam Newton’s front-flip touchdown against the Texans in Week 2. We get Superman references and the SportsCenter music.
Like all good things, this needs a deft hand. Let’s not go overboard by putting every single play on YouTube with Spanish commentary, but every fanbase should have the joy of seeing one play per week like this. Or, as an alternative, how about just muting your TV every week and turning your radio on. This is better than anything you’ll hear from regular announcers.
