One Direction and the sport of hockey have a lot of things in common:
One Direction concert forced a hockey game to get cancelled and fans are ANGRY

- Millions of adoring fans love them, but there’s also a lot of people out there who instinctively hate them without much reason.
- Both get a lot of attention when they sell out football stadiums.
- Both arguably get better as you start taking people out of the action.
Unfortunately, a dispute this week is making it hard for fans on either side to see past their differences to appreciate what they have in common.
The band was supposed to play a show in Belfast on Tuesday but had to postpone until Friday after Liam Payne got ill and was unable to perform. Problem is, by moving the show to Friday, it forced the cancellation of a hockey game between the Belfast Giants and the Sheffield Steelers. As you can understand, fans in Sheffield who made plans to make the trip to Belfast for the game are not pleased. Belfast Live talked to some of them and they’re fuming the way you’d expect hockey fans to fume in such circumstances: (HT: Puck Daddy).
Sheffield steel worker Simon Evetts, 41, has spent £1000 to bring himself, his partner and four others - including two children - for a weekend trip to Belfast for the games.
He told the Mirror: “We’ll still be going, but it’s just frustrating isn’t it? You don’t mind it if there’s something wrong with the ice, but because it’s another events fault that ours isn’t happening, it’s just frustrating.
”I don’t think they’ve considered us at all, the Belfast arena have just considered money really.
The sad truth for Sheffield fans is this is probably exactly what happened. With all due respect to the Belfast Giants and the Sheffield Steelers, the Elite Ice Hockey League game probably won’t bring in as much money as a One Direction concert, especially in the U.K.
It’s really hard to compete with One Direction when they want something. The only way to really get back at them when they take something from you is to do what Taylor Swift did and write a bitter song about it. If these two teams can get together and write something catchy, One Direction may not be “Out Of The Woods” just yet.
