Theatre critic accidentally becomes rugby insider after breaking news about new contract

Mark Kolbe/Getty Images

J. Kelly Nestruck is a theatre critic for The Globe and Mail in Canada. While I’m no expert on Canadian theatre, I’m guessing he’s fine at what he does.

But on Thursday afternoon, out of nowhere, he decided to take a break from reviewing shows to turn into rugby’s Adrian Wojnarowski and tweet out some rugby news (HT: Jonathan Goldsbie):

So what happened? Well, it turns out he got an e-mail directed at another J. Kelly:

LESSON #1: Always double-check before you hit the Send button.

LESSON #2: When you break news, prepare to become a trending topic.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to set up e-mail accounts that sound very similar to every key sports decision maker. It’s worth a shot.
