The Hawks honored Dikembe Mutombo with a 50-foot finger wag

“I don’t think I ever thought my jersey would be retired. My name will stay forever.”

On Tuesday night, the Atlanta Hawks retired Dikembe Mutombo’s number 55. With Mutombo in attendance, the team launched a pregame court projection featuring Mutombo highlights and a 50-foot Mutombo finger wag. Atlanta players wore “55” patches on their jerseys.

“I don’t think I ever thought my jersey would be retired,” Mutombo told reporters. “My name will stay forever.”
