Jonah Lomu honored with series of hakas during emotional public funeral

Jonah Lomu was powerful. Jonah Lomu was fast. Jonah Lomu was awe-inspiring. There are dozens of descriptors we could apply to the greatest rugby player ever. In the end all that needs to be said is that he was an amazing man that conjured the imaginations of a nation. Now, New Zealand is adapting to life after Lomu.
Lomu’s emotional public funeral took place at Eden Park in Auckland on Monday, with members of rugby’s past, present and future to send the king off in style. His former schoolmates at Wesley College held a pre-haka in his honor, passing the torch to Lomu’s former All Black teammates who performed a haka of their own, finally Wesley College’s current students performed a third haka before 40 doves were released.
Lomu was a force of nature. An unreal athlete that make the impossible look simple. Rest in peace, Jonah Lomu.
