Perhaps you have heard of the game of football. There are many rules! There are also some general guidelines, which, while not required, are by and large heeded, because they make football much easier. These include facing in the direction in which you are attempting to make the ball go.
College football player blindly tosses ball over his shoulder like salt to ward off bad luck, completes 2-point conversion

The Division-III St. Thomas Tommies have apparently not heard about that last one.
What started as a fake extra-point play saw the kicker run to the side to fool the Carleton Knight defense. As he did so, St. Thomas tight end Matt Christensen ran into the end zone. The placement kick holder -- senior Charlie Dowdle, who doubles as a tight end -- then hurled the ball backwards over his shoulder, where it was caught by Christensen, somehow, for a two-point conversion.
There might be some explanation in the fact that the now 9–0 Tommies defeated the Knights 80–3 -- blind, backwards tosses might be slightly more tempting with a 70-point lead.
“It was just some fun stuff we have been working on and wanted to do all year,” Dowdle said after the game. “We’ve been trying to see if it’ll work out, and it happened to work.”
