Serena Williams has had a heck of a year, nearly completing a calendar Grand Slam and being named “Sportsperson of the Year” by Sports Illustrated. Prior to getting awarded, however, Williams participated in her own charity run in Miami, and it was going great ... until people saw that she took a taxi to the finish line instead of running the whole race.

— Tennis Photos (@tennis_photos) December 13, 2015 It’s quite possible Williams was still recovering from injuries and didn’t want to make things worse; per the New York Times, she bowed out of two tournaments in late 2015, because she’d played most of the year while injured and needed “time to heal.”
To her credit, however, Williams was honest in a Facebook live stream, saying “I didn’t run the whole way this year, but next year I will.”:
