New Mexico was 0.1 seconds from OT, but lost for calling a TO it didn’t have

Tied 89-89 with time running out against Rice, New Mexico needed a defensive stop to force overtime. The Lobos got the stop they needed when Rice missed a potential game-winner and New Mexico even got the rebound. There was only one problem.

In the split second after getting the rebound, junior Tim Williams lost track of how many timeouts New Mexico had remaining. The classic Chris Webber situation. And it cost New Mexico dearly. New Mexico got called for a technical foul as a result with just 0.1 seconds left. Rice made the free throw and won the game 90-89. Ouch.
