At Saturday’s game between the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars, a newlywed couple stood out from the crowd because they attended the game in their wedding clothes, and cameras caught the bride enjoying a burger. According to the Star Tribune, getting on the Jumbotron was actually part of the groom’s plan:
The correct way to enjoy an NHL game is wearing a wedding dress, eating burgers
Wild fans Erica Skuta and Lewis Blake attended the game against the Dallas Stars as their “wedding finale.”
Blake, a New Zealand resident, had hoped to get on the Jumbotron by holding up a sign that read: “I flew 8,044 miles from New Zealand to be at this game (and to get married).”
Skuta, a Minnesota native, was initially “terrified” of getting on camera while eating a burger, but thankfully the Internet loved the video. Ultimately, it seems as though attending the game in post-wedding fashion was her idea, since she’s getting her husband access to see the Wild practice:
Blake said he already knew how lucky he was. For his wedding gift, Skuta arranged for Blake to watch a Wild practice, which is usually closed to the public.

And that actually is a great idea. So in honor of them, I wrote a short, sweet and purely fictional script about how this all went:
Blake: “So! That wedding happened. I’m so glad it’s over ... What do you wanna do now?”
Skuta: [pulls out tickets to a Minnesota Wild game that starts immediately after the wedding]
Blake: “No way. You didn’t. We’re really doing this? In these clothes?”
Skuta: “HELL YEAH LET’S GO”
[they go to the Wild game]
Blake: “This was the best idea.”
Skuta: “Right?!”
Blake: “How’s that burger?
Skuta: “So damn good. You want some of it?”
Blake: “Nah, I’m full from earlier.”
Skuta: “oh shit oh shit oh shit babe a piece of the burger got on my face can you wipe it off?”
Blake: “oh shit oh shit oh shit I got it!”
Skuta: “Thaaanks.”
Blake: “Haha, no problem. I love you.”
Skuta: “Love you too.”
