Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman called in to Mike & Mike Monday morning to set the record straight about Sunday’s dustup with Odell Beckham Jr., where by “set the record straight” we mean compare OBJ to Harvey Dent and credit a couple Panthers coaches for his ability to withstand the Giants receiver’s helmet-to-helmet shot.
Josh Norman is still going in on Odell Beckham Jr. with Batman metaphors
“That’s no Joker, man. That’s no Joker. That’s Harvey Dent. That’s Two-Face.”
“I’m not gonna stand there and let somebody beat up on me, you know?” Norman told the hosts. “But I’m going to do things within the confines of the whistle.”
Norman, who has previously compared himself to Batman, said that Beckham was more Harvey Dent than Joker.
“That’s no Joker, man,” he said. “That’s no Joker. That’s Harvey Dent. That’s Two-Face. I mean, that’s what he is. I can respect the Joker, ‘cause at least he is giving me a sweet contest. He’s giving me a sweet, epic battle.”
“But that right there was a melee. Like I said, that’s Harvey Dent. I can’t respect a guy like that, man. That’s ridiculous. You don’t come at nobody like that when they come out on the field -- 15 yards and launch at his head. I’m glad I was in there with Guche and Big House, doing traps for the week. Or my darn neck could have been taken off.”
“Big House” refers to the Panthers’ strength and conditioning coach Joe Kenn, while “Guche” is a reference to strength and conditioning assistant Jason Benguche and not, unfortunately, Gucci Mane.
Norman said that while he believes OBJ should be suspended, he does not think he should be fined because he was defending himself.
“He should have been thrown out of the game last night,” Norman said. “That was ridiculous. I mean, I don’t see how they couldn’t see that from up top.”
“If that wasn’t a blatant head-to-head, I don’t know what is.”
“I don’t fight, man,” Norman said. “I’m just a grizzled guy. That’s how I was brought up. I mean, I’ve got five brothers. What do you expect? I don’t sit around here and just prance around.”
