Eddie Hall was going for a new deadlift record of 1,018.5 pounds. The MC of the event was trying to get people pumped up, and then he pulled ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER out to help cheer on Hall. Arnold frigging Schwarzenegger is standing, like, two feet away from you, cheering you on, believing in you. You think you’re not gonna set a friggin’ world record?
Arnold Schwarzenegger believed in this man, who then immediately set a deadlift record
You could say he ... Terminated that record.

Being about to lift a max weight and then suddenly having Arnold appear next to you, all like “YOU CAN DO THIS YOU GOT THIS DO IT GO” is absolutely the most inspirational thing in sports that I can think of. Even if you’ve never bench-pressed more than the bar before, if that happened, you could probably instantly throw a building into the sun.
In fact, this might be one of the most inspirational scenarios in the history of everything. Let’s go to the power rankings.
THE MOST INSPIRATIONAL THING THAT CAN POSSIBLY HAPPEN TO YOU IN LIFE:
1. Kermit the Frog telling you you’re special
2. Arnold Schwarzenegger telling you that you can totally lift a weight
3. Rocky IV training montage
4. “Chariots of Fire” theme by Vangelis
5. Remember the Titans
Yep, it all checks out.
One last thing to put this deadlift in perspective: As Arnold explains in the video, this is more than 300 pounds heavier than his all-time max deadlift. THINK ABOUT THAT.
