Rugby commentator Ross Filipo has the best excuse for why he won’t be able to fulfill his job as the sideline commentator during an upcoming match: he might be playing in it! The Chiefs have reached out to the veteran player after dealing with a number of injuries to their side.
Rugby team plagued by injuries is forced to sign a commentator

”After witnessing the consequences of having to play captain Liam Messam and flanker Liam Squire in the second row, Rennie has called on 36-year-old Filipo who last year said goodbye to first class rugby after nine seasons with Wellington.
He trained with the team today and said he was originally rostered to take part in television coverage of the game as a sideline commentator. ”
Filipo will serve as a bench replacement while the injured players recover.
Can you imagine if something like this happened in other sports leagues? Joe Buck has to call a game by himself because Troy Aikman is busy holding the clipboard for Tony Romo. Reggie Miller skips the broadcast to sit at the end of the Pacers’ bench to annoy the young guys instead of the viewers at home. Hey, maybe that wouldn’t be so bad.
