It sucks Andy Murray still has to defend having a woman for a coach

Despite it being one of the busiest tennis weeks of the year, Andy Murray, who faces Novak Djokovic in the French Open semifinal Friday, wrote a column for L'Equipe, where he shared his firm stance on women coaching men's tennis.

Murray wrote:

Have I become a feminist? Well, if being a feminist is about fighting so that a woman is treated like a man then yes, I suppose I have.

See, when Murray appointed Amelie Mauresmo as his coach in June 2014, he became one of the first elite male athletes ever to hire a female coach. That sadly resulted in sexist comments from the tennis world, even from fellow players.

Hopefully his continual campaigning on the matter eventually leads to a positive change.

Good luck to you, Andy, you're a champion in equality and we love it.
