Clearly the point of this drill is to -- well, I don’t know what the point of this is. Are the Titans wide receivers so bad that their coaches don’t think they can catch balls lofted high in the air at very low speeds? Or maybe they’re just practicing their ability to cover for each other when one of them fumbles? OK, maybe I get it now.
Titans receivers actually had one of the lowest percentage of dropped passes in the league last season, but the team as a whole had one of the lowest percentages of being good at football. So maybe getting back to basics is a good plan. Plus, the receiving corps will look a bit different this year with Dorial Green-Beckham coming in and Justin Hunter, uh, allegedly stabbing people.
Maybe the WR coach is just a big fan of the first Mighty Ducks movie? “If you wanna win, you’re gonna have to pick up the trash.”
