The role of captain on an NFL team is a vague one that few people understand, but even the most casual fan gets that you have to earn a certain level of respect in the locker room to receive the distinction. That is, unless you're on the Buffalo Bills, in which case who cares just make anyone who can throw the ball a captain:

If we had to guess, this is just the coach's attempt to ruffle some feathers and keep everyone on their toes. Hopefully he knows what he's doing -- otherwise there could be a mutiny on the S.S. Rex Ryan.
