Stephen Colbert needs Captain America’s shield to save him from Novak Djokovic

US Open champion Novak Djokovic appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday night -- one of his many TV appearances since edging out Roger Federer in a stunning final match Sunday in New York.

Djokovic, of course, shows off his new hardware -- “when I bring it to the movie theater, I get free refills” -- and then he serves a tennis ball AT Colbert.

It’s cute how Colbert defends himself from the shot with a Captain America shield just after Djokovic tells him his top serve speed is 130 mph.

Federer may have been the beloved favorite in the US Open matchup, but Djokovic has quickly proven that he can win people over, as well. I mean, he screamed “THIS IS SPARTA” with Gerard Butler the other day -- how can you not love him now, if you didn’t already?
