James Conner is one of the best running backs in the nation, and he suffered a heartbreaking injury in Week 1 against Youngstown State. Conner tore his MCL after scoring two touchdowns in the win and it’s unclear when he’ll return, or how this will affect his NFL Draft hopes.
Conner got a surprising letter from a fellow ACC school that helped lift his spirits. David Cutcliffe, Duke’s head coach heard about the injury and wanted Conner to know the school was thinking about him. There aren’t many coaches who would take this kind of attention to reach out to a player from another school, but if you know much about Cutcliffe it’s not that surprising.
