Inside-the-park grand slams might not happen too often, but they look pretty easy to pull off with the help of really terrible defense. That's exactly what happened on Friday night when a Washington Nationals center fielder made an ill-advised diving attempt for a ball hit by Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr. The play was so bad that the Nationals didn't even make a throw back to home plate. That's embarrassing.
Phillies hit an inside-the-park grand slam thanks to terrible defense from the Nationals
A good moment for a bad team.

Pretty cool moment for the Phillies, though. Some historical perspective:
Altherr's inside-the-park grand slam is Phillies' first since Ted Kazanski (8/8/1956) vs. Giants at Polo Grounds, according to @EliasSports.
