Skycam provides really unique angles and video of college football games. On Saturday in Oregon it also created significant confusion among the referees when a punt deflected off one of the overhead wires.
Utah got a re-punt against Oregon thanks to the camera wire, so it ran a fake
Initially it was business as usual with the Oregon offense lining up to take possession. Then officials stopped the game to announce fourth down would be replayed because the ball hit the wire.
Easy enough.
Except before that could happen, officials decided they needed to go to a review. Eventually, they determined fourth down would indeed be replayed. That set up another punt attempt, but Utah had other ideas.
Ah yeah, the old punt the ball off the wire so you lull the opposing team into a sense of security before you break out the fake punt sweep play. Just like Kyle Whittingham drew it up, probably.
