Stephen Colbert suggests the NFL switch from coin tosses to ‘Spin the Bottle’

SB Nation 2016 NFL Playoff Guide

On Tuesday's episode of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert addressed the controversial coin toss that happened before the Packers-Cardinals overtime, in which the coin had to be tossed twice, because it did not flip. It was a weird moment (among other weird moments that occurred that night), and plenty of people thought it was unfair -- including Aaron Rodgers.

To prevent any future coin toss-related messes, Colbert offered some alternative solutions to deciding who gets the ball first, like Spin the Bottle (if you win, you get possession, but you also have to “kiss the ref ... tongue”) and using Groundhog Day rules. Sure, they’re unwieldy and more time-consuming than a regular coin toss, but it would make for some exciting television.
