Gregg Popovich and the Spurs got run off the court in a 120-90 loss to Golden State on Monday, but the San Antonio coach dominated the postgame press conference.
Gregg Popovich used a 30-point loss to deliver the perfect joke about Cleveland firing David Blatt

To start though, Popovich was funny, you could whatever he told players, wasn't good #Spurs pic.twitter.com/dksQnGBvyF
— Jabari Young (@JabariJYoung) January 26, 2016 “We almost got ‘em” is a great opening line after a 30-point loss. It was also just the tee that propped up the ball for a Popovich home run.
“I’m glad my general manager wasn’t in my locker room or I might’ve gotten fired.”
Leave it to the master Popovich to turn a blowout loss into an uppercut shot at another team. One would have to think Popovich is referring to the Cavaliers, who fired David Blatt after a 34-point loss to the Warriors despite a 30-11 record at the time.
We’re also glad Popovich is not getting fired because then we would miss out on his always enjoyable press conferences.
