Milan Lucic accidentally punches linesman in the face during fight

It was a rough night to be an NHL official on Wednesday. One linesman ended up on the wrong end of a big cross-check with Dennis Wideman. While the linesman from the game between Colorado and Los Angeles didn’t get checked to the ice, he did get punched right in the face.

It turns out that trying to break up a fight between a lot of grown men on skates can sometimes go very wrong. Every now and then a rogue punch misses its intended target and catches you square in the nose. At least this one was not intentional and the puncher, Milan Lucic, was quick to apologize for bopping the official.

Both linesman still had it better than the minor league hockey ref who got clotheslined by a coach in a full on melee.
