He doesn’t appear surprised, but then the only real suspense of Ken Griffey Jr.‘s campaign was whether he would be the first player to be elected unanimously.
“Not only that,” the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s Jack O’Connell tells Griffey of his election, “you made history in this election. We had 440 voters and you were on 437 ballots. Now you’re in the history of the voting.”
“Yeah, OK,” says Griffey, smiling. “I’m a little nervous now.”
