It’s Belichick vs. Ryan 16 this weekend and there is a lot of history there.

Rex Ryan became the head coach of the New York Jets in 2009, and since that point he’s been at the center of one of the most entertaining coaching rivalries in the NFL with Bill Belichick. Ryan eventually moved from the Jets to the Buffalo Bills, but his rivalry with Belichick is eight years strong.

The two coaches will square their teams off for the 16th time on Sunday. Over the years there has been a lot of back-and-forth with plenty of trash talk between the good signs.

To celebrate the rivalry, here is all of the best trash talk from Belichick and Ryan over the years.

Ryan: “I never came here to kiss Bill Belichick’s, you know, rings. I came to win. Let’s just put it that way. So we’ll see what happens. I’m certainly not intimidated by New England or anybody else.”

Ryan: “This is about Bill Belichick vs. Rex Ryan. There’s no question. It’s personal. It’s about him against myself, and that’s what it’s going to come down to.”

Ryan: “I don’t believe the one guy up in New England’s got all the answers. I worry about ourselves, what we think of a player and how we evaluate a player.”

Ryan: “They’re clearly the team to beat, and we’re coming after them.”

Ryan: “Hell, [Tom Brady] knows we hate the Patriots, so what’s the difference?”

Ryan: “I’d much rather have a win against, and compete against a first ballot Hall of Fame coach in Belichick than a slappy coach. Shoot, he’s gonna get what I got, and he knows it.”

Ryan: “They’re going to get every single thing that I have, every single thing that my players have, and our coaches have and if they beat us, then they beat us. But we don’t concede anything. We’re not beat just because they get off the bus, like some teams.”

Ryan: “I don’t care who plays quarterback. Steve Grogan can play quarterback. If Belichick is playing quarterback, we’re coming after him. I promise you that.”

Ryan: “I came here to win. As much as I respect and admire Bill Belichick, I came here to kick his ass, and that’s the truth.”

Ryan: “I came here to beat [Bill Belichick], and I’m never going to backtrack on that.”

Ryan: “I don’t have to take a back seat to anybody when it comes to coaching defense. Our goals are all the same. He wants to win and I want to win, so we’re very similar that way.

Belichick: “I’m just focused on getting ready for the Bills.”

Wow, Belichick really needs to reign it in and get better control of his emotions. That really got out of hand. Geez, Bill.
