This snap was so bad, NC State’s kicker literally didn’t know what to do with it

Kicking follies are some of footballs’ greatest moments. NC State set a high water mark on Saturday when a bad snap led to some hilarious improvisation on the part of the Wolfpack kicker.

This is one with layers you really need to appreciate. Every sports highlight is a series of moments, and this one had several.

The moment of realization.

He knows the ball is in an un-kickable position. He knows there’s no way he can attempt to slot it through. He knows there’s no escape.

The moment of hesitation.

The snap caused his approach to get all messed up. Normally when this happens you might see the holder pick up the ball and try to run a fake, but not in this case. The kicker stopped and did his best to try and salvage it.

The moment of belief.

What we got was this weird, 20 yard knuckle ball thing that barely made it 5 yards off the ground.

The moment of regret.
