This World Series Game 6 play came down to less than an inch

So close!

Baseball is a game of inches, but Game 6 of the World Series may be a game of centimeters.

The Indians were mounting a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning before it was dashed by about a quarter of an inch.

The foot on the left is Cleveland’s Francisco Lindor. The foot on the right is Chicago’s Aroldis Chapman. Chapman beat Lindor to the base by the narrowest of margins, but it was clear Lindor was out. Had Lindor been safe — as originally called — the Indians would have had the bases loaded with two outs, trailing 7-2. Who knows what would have happened next.

Instead, the Cubs were out of the jam, thanks to a few centimeters. If the Cubs hold on to force Game 7, those centimeters could end up meaning everything.
