Man crosses gorge on a tightrope held only by his friends to set world record

The phrase “putting your life in someone’s hands” is totally overused, unless you’re a highline walker who did just this. A team of daredevils met at Smith Rock in Terrebonne, Ore. to try and set a world record for the longest walk on a human-anchored highline.
Typically, the line is anchored and secured to a rock face when someone attempts a walk like this, but Louie Wray relied on nothing but his friends to keep him alive. Now look, sure there were a lot of people on each side of the cliff face to make sure there was plenty of redundancy. However, should something happen and they lose grip, Louie would die, simple as that.
This moment was scary.
This one was terrifying.
Midway through the walk he fell — but thankfully the safety line saved him.
In the end, Louie got back on the line and finished — including the brutal final ascent.
Unhappy he crossed with a fall, Louie decided to go back — and he nailed it. Now he holds the world record for the longest human-anchored highline crossing. You can have this one, buddy. We’re too scared.
