When you’re a veteran, you get respect. When you become an icon, the league moves around you. No video shows this ideal better than Tom Brady in the open field on Sunday when no Jets defender wanted to knock him down at all.
This was the open field — it would have been the best possible time to knock Brady on his ass, should the Jets wanted to, but he got the ultimate veteran benefit. He basically got to run a basketball screen down the field and nobody touched him at all.
Not only did Brady not get drilled, but he helped LeGarrette Blount gain some extra yards. Respect.
