Jadeveon Clowney was a destroyer in the Houston Texans’ 21-20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, even if the stat sheet only showed one sack for the first pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Jadeveon Clowney laid waste to a Jaguars offensive lineman who stepped in his way
Josh Wells helped block for a touchdown, but paid the price for it.
He recorded five quarterback disruptions, according to Pro Football Focus, and a second sack on the day was wiped out because it was determined to be a designed run for Blake Bortles. Even on Jacksonville’s only offensive touchdown of the game, Clowney dished out some pain.
Josh Wells — a 6’6, 305-pound offensive tackle also in his third NFL season — got tossed aside with ease even if he helped spring Bortles for a touchdown.
Clowney struggled with injuries early in his career, but has been a huge asset for the Texans in his third season with J.J. Watt out for the year and Whitney Mercilus dealing with a back injury. His sack on Sunday upped his total to five on the season — a career high.
