David Price donates $300,000 to help fund baseball facility for disabled children

The city of Murfreesboro, Tenn., has ambitious plans for Miracle Field, a baseball field designed for disabled kids. David Price is a big part of the plan, having donated $300,000 to help build the facility in his hometown.

“One day of a couple of hours of baseball doesn’t raise a lot of eyebrows for myself or a lot of other people, but for these kids it’s something they look forward to every day of the week leading up till Saturday,” Price said, via The Tennessean. “Just to be a part of that and help put one here in our hometown is very special.”

Miracle field will include lights, a scoreboard, covered bleaches, dugouts, concessions and more. It is specifically designed for kids with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs. Price signed a seven-year, $217 million contract with the Red Sox this offseason. His donation is a major part of the funding for the facility, which could open by spring of 2017. Ground has already been broken on the facility, with Price lending a hand.
