This baseball team’s name is Bananas. No literally, Bananas.

Are you a big fan of fruit and baseball? Has it always been your dream to cheer for both things at the same time? Well if you have that very specific and strange dream, it is your lucky day.

The Savannah Bananas are a summer baseball league for college players. Their mascot is now a fierce looking banana who looks prepared to smash dingers. Their catch phrase is also Go Bananas. That is both part very silly and part brilliant. And I cannot deny that Savannah Bananas rolls right off the tongue.

The team took suggestions in helping to pick a new name. Eventually there were five finalists. The Bananas, the Party Animals, the Ports, the Anchors and the Seagulls.

Now that Bananas has been chosen, we wait to see what wacky promotional ideas the team will come up with. We’ll be disappointed if Gwen Stefani isn’t there to introduce them for the first game. This team is Bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s.
