Hockey player leaves wake of defenders on game-winning OT goal, triggering massive celebration

There are a few parts to that video and they are all awesome.

First, the situation. The Stillwater Ponies were locked in a 0-0 game with Hill-Murray heading into overtime with the final spot in the Minnesota Boy’s Class AA State Hockey Championship up for grabs. That is when Noah Cates made a little magic.

He evaded one defender with a 360 move. Avoided another charting in and beat the goalie. It was a great goal even without the circumstances around it. As a game-winner that clinched a spot in the state championship, it was phenomenal.

As fun as the goal was, the celebration may have been even better. The players pouring onto the ice and ecstatically celebrating with the crowd is one of the best sports scenes thus far this year.
