Hey LeBron, you can’t use the same dunk on back-to-back plays
No wonder he never entered the dunk contest.
Participating in the Slam Dunk Contest is no longer necessary for NBA stars. That's what stars did in the 80s and 90s, sure, but this is the year 2016. None of the stars dunk at All-Star weekend anymore, and if they do, they don't win it. (Blake Griffin shouldn't have.) We don't need Westbrook or Durant or Kawhi trying to jump from the free throw line or whatever; Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon got that locked down. Anyway, the most exciting play in basketball isn't even the dunk anymore, thanks to Stephen Curry's cockamamie threes.
All that is to say that I'm no longer annoyed that LeBron James never dunked for our entertainment on All-Star Saturday. Or at least I thought I was, until James was the recipient of back-to-back breakaways within seconds of each other playing the Wizards.
THAT’S THE EXACT SAME DUNK, BRON.
We’re not asking for him to dunk over a mascot while putting the ball under his legs or even throw down a risky windmill. But could we get, you know, something other than the I’m-going-to-go-up-with-one-hand-but-use-two-at-the-very-last-second-because-woooo-that’s-so-cool stuff he pulled off right there?
See, this is what happens when you’re the best player of a generation. There’s so few things for us to criticize that we have to come up with fake, ridiculous stuff like this.
