The Warriors are indisputably the best team in the NBA right now. Aside from the occasional bad game (hi, Lakers), everything they do is basically magic. However, one person who isn’t under their spell is Charles Barkley. Last season, Barkley said they wouldn’t win the championship because they’re a “jump-shooting team.” They won, and he was punished by Klay Thompson with a Warriors shirt making fun of his proclamation.
Charles Barkley is betting against the Warriors again for some reason
Barkley’s “The Warriors Aren’t That Special” tour continued on Monday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he once again said the Warriors would not win the championship this season. He didn’t say who he thinks will win, only that the Warriors wouldn’t.
Barkley: “You know what, they have a terrific team. They’ve been great for the NBA.”
Colbert: “You ready to jump on board this year? Because they’re the number one team this year ... ”
Barkley: “And I’m telling you right now, they’re not going to win the championship this year.”
Barkley’s words were then taken to task because Colbert bet Barkley a round of golf for making such a bold statement for a second year in a row. Also, it’s likely Colbert picked golf as a bet because Barkley has a weird, unsure-of-itself golf swing:
