It’s hard to not look at this Under Armor commercial starring Michael Phelps and get at least a little emotional. To most of us Phelps was a phenomenon we got to watch once every four years like a shooting star. It was brief, fleeting and a rarity. His complete domination in the pool captivated a nation. Now it’s coming to a close.
We’ve seen athlete ads in the past, plenty of them. Typically they center on overcoming obstacles, or sending a message to the “haters,” but Phelps’ is none of that. Just a guy and a pool and one challenge left. One last rodeo. It’s been a hell of a ride.
