Tristan Thompson called the Cavs’ pre-playoff dinner the ‘Last Supper’
The 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers are a complicated bunch. Despite making it to the NBA Finals last season, they fired head coach David Blatt in favor of Tyronn Lue. And all throughout the regular season, they were their own worst critics, which constantly became an internal issue.
At times, Kevin Love seemed to be outside of the inner circle, but he joked about it mostly via Instagram photos. And then there was the small event when LeBron unfollowed the Cavs on Twitter and it blew up in an almost-biblical proportion.
But the Cavaliers are aware of how biblical they consider their path to the Finals. According to Cleveland.com, Tristan Thompson said so himself, by calling their pre-playoff dinner the “Last Supper:”
“If you look back at Greek mythology and even back before World War 1, every time a team would go out to battle, they’d eat first,” Thompson told cleveland.com. “I think that’s what it symbolizes before going out to battle. Having that last supper before it’s time to go to war.”
If the Cavaliers are reenacting “The Last Supper,” who’s Judas?
