The Toronto Raptors are hosting the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2016 NBA Playoffs. It's fair to say the Raptors and Pacers don't share much of a rivalry or storied past together. The Pacers aren't facing the Knicks from the '90s or the LeBron James-led Miami Heat. The two teams shouldn't have too much bad blood between them. Besides, the Raptors have a less than stellar playoff record in past years, so you'd think this might just be a mellow series between two teams trying to advance in the playoffs.
Raptors mock Indiana with jokes about the Fever who are actually really good at basketball
Bad idea.
WELP. That was wrong. During Game 1 of the series (a game Toronto lost at home) the Raptors ran an in-house video mocking the state of Indiana. I’m actually someone who was born and raised in Indiana ... and sure ... we have some things we can be made fun of. Want to make fun of us for our obsession with Peyton Manning? Great. But here is where you went wrong, Toronto. You made fun of the Indiana Fever, one of the better WNBA franchises ever. A team that is completely superior to you when it comes to team success, playoff success, and just success in general. Let’s break down the Raptors vs. the Fever since both teams were created.
| Raptors | Fever | |
| Playoff appearances | 8 (since 1995) | 12 (since 2000) |
| Playoff wins | 14 | 35 |
| Playoff win % | 0.326 | 0.522 |
| Conference titles | 0 | 3 |
| Championships | 0 | 1 |
Numbers don't lie. And here's the kicker, Toronto. Your head coach, Dwane Casey ... yeah, he was born in Indiana. Below is the video if you'd like to see how awkward it was.
