Isaiah Thomas changed his shoes because they didn’t ‘have any buckets in them,’ then scored 22

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
Is it the shoes? Celtics’ guard Isaiah Thomas sure thinks so. He was struggling against the Warriors on Friday night and decided something needed to change. See, his shoes had “no buckets in them” and he knew that if he channeled the power of Kobe Bryant things would be okay.
Thomas switched from Nike Kobe 11s to All-Star Kobe 11s. It worked! Before the shoe change he went scoreless, after the switch he dropped 22. Was it really the shoes or just all in his mind? Either way this wouldn’t be the first time a wardrobe change sparked a reversal of fortunes. Remember when TCU’s Gary Patterson did the same?
